Garden Visit 7th July

Garden Visit 7th July

This week-end I have a house full of people for a birthday celebration and other events, so lots of housework, shopping and cooking, so yesterday when it had calmed-down I decided to head off and visit two gardens that were open for charity this week-end. It was such a lovey day and the gardens could not have looked better. Roses were a feature of both gardens and the blooms looked like they never had a drop of rain fall on them. The colour combinations that both the gardeners had achived was stunning as you can see from the photos. Both gardens are in an area where the borrowed landscape is brought into their gardens and what a landscape. Both gardens are winners of national competitions, one selected as the best overall winner in the Viking Competition. The photos were taken by me, with a cheap camera, so not as good as Paddy's. Off now to roast some tomatoes for pizzas for todays lunch. Mary

Both great looking gardens, Mary.

Love the Hostas in the pots, they look great.

They both look wonderful, Mary. Do you not want to mention the names in public? Good luck with the entertaining.

Both gardens are part of the south Tipperary Garden Trail. One is Mildred Stokes, Killurney, Ballypatrick which is a few miles outside Kilsheelin, near Clonmel.

Pauline Hegarty's garden is on the Clonmel - Dungarvan road, a few miles from Clonmel.

Both are open again today for charity, MS.

Don't tell me you forgot to send my invitation for Paddy's 80th Birthday? lol  Enjoy your festivities and your guests.

Lovely photos, Mary. And every bit as good as Paddys. They look like two great gardens to visit.

I am the one hitting the 80 next Thursday Jacinta. Fran, good help is very hard to find these days, and I am the one who works seven days. Peter, you are welcome anytime. Mary, I just have to hear that a garden is open anywhere near me and I find any excuse to visit. Andy, I worked with AIB many years ago in their systems department and it has rubbed off on me. Nothing is left to chance. Mary

Thank you for your comment re Urns Mary. The oldest i got for a fiver years and years ago and put it on top of an old stone roller. The old one cost about eleven euro in a local hardware and the biggest one cost me 60 in a place where they cast cement pots-I found the three pieces and they fitted together.(Recent journal) its made from granite composite not cememnt and  I got it for 60 Euro! Im getting another soon-a cast off top for 20 euro. Theres an iron rod has to be cut out of it and a hole drilled! They give the place a bit of grandeur which helps to conceal the lack of it in the planting!!!!
