We are under pressure to get work done in the garden for an upcoming garden visit next week by a gardening club. The weather has not been kind to us over the last few weeks, so with only a few days left Paddy was out cuttting the grass today in freezing cold weather. Since Thursday last the cold wind has been dreadful. Snowdrops, cyclamens and iris are getting whipped by the gusts. A little sun would be so welcome to help bring plants into flower. In Janurary plants were doing well, but now growth seems to have come to a stop. The hellebores are also feeling the cold which is disappointing as there are one plant I always look forward to flowering.

Bad timing of the cold weather for you indeed. It is supposed to get milder from tomorrow on so hopefully things will have time to recover before your open day. Best of luck with it!

The weather is to improve from tomorrow Mary and should be somewhat milder and sunnier. Fingers crossed. But after seeing recent photos of your garden in FB I just couldn't imagine that it could look bad at any time of the year. I'm sure your guests will be well impressed too.

We seem to have been in the grip of northerly winds here the past few days - really bitterly cold. Wrap up warm if you are venturing out!

The very best of luck for the garden visit, both of you. I'm sure you'll have things well-under control. You always do.

Love the Hellebore in that third photo, Mary. Which one is it please?

Jacinta, that double yellow hellebore I bought about twenty five years ago from Neil Williams in Cork and it was just a Helleborus x hybridus.

Thursday and Friday seem promising, so we will be down to the wire.

Jackie, had got a lot of cleaning of the borders done in Januray and any pruning and weeding that needed to be done, but despite the bad weather the weeds still keep growing.

Come to my garden and then return to yours and you will realise you have nothing to worry about it and it is immaculate! ;)  Love the yellow hellebore!

I'm with Linda there, I wouldn't let a garden club within a mile of my garden just now. The double hellebore is magical.

The weather should be kinder to you this week Mary, though I agree with the others, your garden is so well tended and always looks well!  Best of luck for your opening. Love that double yellow hellebore too.
