The first of the hot border flowers has opened .....

I;m looking forward to a bit more of a zing as the season progresses!

Remodelling the Hot Border was quite a task but it will be interesting to see how much "zing" can be introduce. I like the idea of lots of the dark red foliage plants but they need the brighter colours to set them off!

I too love the idea of a zingy border and I'm sure this will be hot hot hot!!! My 'hot' border last year was full of orange's, reds and yellows and I was delighted with it. Look forward to seeing how this progresses Hazel ;)

That border looks great, Hazel. And every 'hot' needs a 'zing', definitely. A few Cannas would look great in there.

It's looking great already Hazel, look forward to seeing more as it progresses.  You'll only need a couple of dark foliage plants for contrast, too many can be overwhelming. The red flowers are lovely against the green leaves and the stones.

'Zing went the strings of my heart', that photo is a good teaser of what is to come.

Thanks for that advice Joan. I've put a Ligularia in it because I think the strong yellow of its flowers ara also a dramatic contrast. In some ways the yellows and oranges are more of a "zing" than some muted reds.I'll be warned and be careful not to put in too much dark foliage!!!!
