Cuttings - advice please.

Cuttings

Cuttings

I took some cuttings in August & September of different hydrangea, phygelius & carnations and the majority seem to have taken. I still have the pots in plastic bags in the tunnel but wondering what is the best thing to do with them now. I doubt if they will survive there over the window. I have room for them in my front porch, which faces north but is still bright and reasonably warm - should I bring them in there? Would welcome advice please.

Nuala, I think I would definitely remove all plastic bags, and leave them in the tunnel. They don't need the extra light and warmth of the porch. The tunnel will do fine.

Yep agree with Jacinta but would put a strip of bubble wrap over them as a precaution.

I am risking all my seeds, cuttings etc in a far from frost proof shelter but have bubble wrap draped over the pots and seed trays. Prefer this to fleece as more light gets through.

Good luck ;-))

Nuala, I would concur with Jacinta. If they are not rooted now, the plastic bags will not help.

Thanks guys - I have taken the bags off and have bubble wrap on stand by. Just wondering - I have 3 hydrangea in one pot and they have definitely rooted well - should I pot them individually now or wait till next spring?

I am familiar with Hydrangea Nuala. If these plants are will rooted, I would pot them individually give a little water and they should continue to root further.
