Hydrangea name please

Name please

Name please

I have a thing for Hydrangeas and have picked up a few recently. I got this one in Ennis market on Saturday morning but the stall holder didn't have a name for it, so would any of you recognise it? I love the soft shade of pink and I particularly like lacecaps. I also picked up three Prairy Splendour echinaceas from Caherhurley Nurseries for my grass bed.

It looks like hydrangea aspera velvet and lace

Agree with Damo - Hydrangea aspera - couldn't name the variety so Damo is probably right about that.

Oh I like that!

Lovely Purchase Nuala and the Echineceas sound nice to will be lovely along with grasses I am sure you already know but Echineceas do not like to be crowded so give them a nice bit of space - I have lost a few because I did not give them enough space

It looks like a lacecap Hydrangea macrophylla to me with the slightly glossy foliage. I think aspera leaves have a slight fuzzyness, mine certainly do anyway.

I wasn't familiar with hydrangea aspera until last Sunday when I saw them at the Galway Garden festival and Conrad is right - aspera leaves have a very different texture and mine is definitely not as aspera. I didn't purchase an aspera, but got 4 other varieties so didn't do too bad!
