Deb's veg patch

Deb's veg patch

Deborah asked me if she could put a vegetable patch in our garden and I said ok, but was concerned that it might ruin our ornamental garden, but it did not. :-)  iss 11.02

It looks great with all the different shades of green and blue.

Kate & Graham Kate & Graham 06 May 2010 22:44:48

Looks great!  It reminds me of the way the veg beds were done in the Eden Project in Cornwall when we visited in 2003.  We keep saying we must go back sometime, it is an amazing place.

Sorry saw you entry to late. Iss always west to east the same direction as the earth, and seems to always be on the southern half of the sky. Cloudy here saw nothing

Rachel Rachel 06 May 2010 23:15:53

It does look a picture. Will you give us a run down, front to back, of what's planted?

Deborah Deborah 06 May 2010 23:27:56

On the back row nearest the wall is a row of Russian Giant sunflowers. Supposed to be able to grow to 16ft tall! Next is 2 rows of black kale, Kale Nero di Toscana, gets darker and darker until is almost black, then a row of rainbow chard, with stems in shades of pink, yellow, red and whites followed by 2 rows of purple pak choi, then a row of freckled chicory and finally a couple of rows of beetroot bulls blood. And then there is a wigwam of the runner bean Painted Lady next to it all.

AitAlainn AitAlainn 06 May 2010 23:28:05

Was looking out in that direction but didn't see anything. Cloudy here too.

Rachel Rachel 06 May 2010 23:30:12

Excellent. I grew Russian Giants last year. One tried to escape through the roof window of my greenhouse!
