Golden podded pea

Golden podded pea

Just a quick note on the golden podded peas which are cropping really well for the last 3 weeks, they will keep on producing pods up until the first frosts as long as the pods are picked, lovely sweet flavor and heavy croppers on plants that grow over 5ft....................

Do they taste any different to normal peas? Great coverage for a bare wall.

Dave these look great and I love the way you can spot them on the plant - looking forward to trying these next year - great result with the spuds on your previous journal and good tip with the storage

Hi Jacinta, they are a lovely sweet flavour and can be used mange tout or left to mature, lovely flowers, flavour and great croppers.......

Hi Mary, makes them really easy to pick alright! have you top of the list for seed! and delighted with the spuds thanks!

Jacinta Jacinta 07 June 2011 21:46:34

My range of veggies this year is a bit pathetic. All I have growing is mangetout, 3 types of toms, melons and cayenne peppers, along with the apples, blueberries, rhubarb, beetroot, we won't talk about the carrots, and one solitary peach from 3 trees.

Whitefly all over toms and peppers, sprayed a soapy solution last night. Doesn't seem any better this evening. Any suggestions? I can't have them eat away in the greenhouse.

Oh and Pentland javelin spuds.

There must be a plant in there that is the source of the white fly? they will normally attack a plant that is week.....

Jacinta Jacinta 07 June 2011 21:55:53

Yea, that's what I thought. But they all look really healthy.

They look great no need to buy Birds Eye in your house.

They look great Dave. Mine (yours) are coming on well, even in this despicable weather.

I brought a dahlia cutting of Veritable up to Dublin for you when I went to Bloom on Friday but hadn't a minute to get round to you. Cliona my sister has it and she is on the site too. If you are passing her place you might like to call for it. Sorry I didn't get time to deliver it. I will send you a message with her address.

Thanks Moya, will be in touch....
