Maggie's project

Maggie's project

Spent most of the afternoon saving seed and tidying up the garden, Maggie started on the cherry tomatoes, and as i type they have been in the oven about 3 hours, i was wrong to refer to them as sun-dried, apparently they are baked and preserved!! will get Maggie to post later and put up the finer details! i am just the gardener!!!! saved seed from the cayenne and lemon chillies, have posted photos up in Seed saving album!

mmm very interesting chilli would have never though to bake and preserve tomatoes!! Well done.

Yes, I am sure they are delicious. However, so many scrumptious little cherry tomatoes would never make it that far in this house. They have difficulty making it even from the greenhouse to the kitchen without getting scoffed.

I think ye should go into business the pair of you, your so well organised and have such a great crop. I can imagine a little stall in a farmers market :O)

Those baked tomatoes look fab...it's making me hungry! Hope it hasn't been too painful, settling back to work after the hols.

That looks interesting. Where do they go from there? And how long can they be stored for? On what setting did you have the oven for the 3 hours? My "Golden Peacevine" and the "Broad Ripple Currant" are still in full production. They are yellow cherry toms from ISSA that you forgot on your tomato list for next year...I will send you the seeds before next spring - promise. We had the first ground frost here last night but nothing in the tunnel was affected - lucky. I will have to get a move on with my harvesting and preserving!
