First Egg

First Egg

First Egg

Hurray! Our first egg from our chickens!

It is only small but it is a genuine egg!

Actually, it's lucky that the egg didn't get smashed on the floor as the boys have a pretend bouncy egg and have been regularly joking that the hens had laid it over the last weeks. Then they would pretend to drop it and we would watch in bounce.

Oh lovely! Enjoy.

It was enjoyed by the two little fellas! (I even sneaked a taste –yummy– but don't tell Rachel!)

Difficult to divide an egg!

cuppa_tea cuppa_tea 01 May 2010 14:54:32

Indeed it was, Myrtle, especially as it was soft-boiled. But I was quick, and whatever escaped was mine!

Myrtle Myrtle 01 May 2010 15:42:53

I can just picture it :)

Well enjoyed I'm sure. There will be a race now to see how finds them from now on.

Ha ha brilliant. Soon they will ALL be laying. If you had an egg from an Aylesbury Duck, it would be big enough to share.

Ternie Ternie 01 May 2010 18:04:22

:))) first result, very good, Rachel.

That's great Rachel!

I was in Wexford this morning and the egg was scoffed in my ansence. Hopefully it will be the first of many : )

Ternie Ternie 01 May 2010 20:10:34

I'm sure there will be many :)

Lìga Lìga 01 May 2010 22:53:10

Who's going to do the honours or will it be soldiers and everybody dip in.

Ladybird Ladybird 02 May 2010 21:37:36

Congrats on the first egg, do you know which hen laid it?

cuppa_tea cuppa_tea 02 May 2010 22:00:47

One more today, and no, without putting a tail on them(!) there's no knowing which one is producing. Which is a pity, cos it'd be nice to reward her for good behaviour :)

I love that story about the pretent / bouncing egg.
