Well, my courgettes and squashes are up.

I know from bitter experience that they must not be checked at this important stage so I potted on the largest today.

Patti Pan squash 'White Custard' and Courgettes 'Bambino' and 'Black Beauty' are pictured.

Rachel, my courgettes are at about the same stage. What do you mean by "must not checked at this stage"? The Learner veg grower here, is asking the question.

Fran, if courgette roots do not have enough space, the plant will slow down. This is detrimental for squashes and they never recover. As soon as your roots fill the cell/pot, you need to pot on. With courgettes (like sunflowers) this can happen quite rapidly, sometimes even over-night.

OK, mine are in peat pots, noticed this evening that the roots are coming through on two of them, will pot them on tomorrow so, thanks.
