Pacific Giants

Pacific Giants

Hi Krista

Here are the Delphiniums I'm growing from seed this year. They are 'Pacific Giants' but still very small. I've a way to go before they can go out into that border!

A few years ago I grew 'Magic Fountains' and the resultant plants now flower for me every year. You can see them in last year's June and July 2009 albums.

Giant Oaks from little acorns grow!!!!!! They will get there in time if you can keep them alive.

I think I know your albums by heart at this stage:) There is so many interesting things to see. Nice delphiniums I think I will go for purple with black eyes. Now another question. Did you grow hellenium from seed or cuttings or bought it as plants as you seem to have a sea of helleniums which are fab for later in the year.

They have a long way to go but they grow quickly, if I recall correctly.  I had one years ago.  I don't remember what happend to it.   Do slugs love them?

Krista, I bought my Heleniums in threes and fives. I do love them. I have seen seed for sale but was unsuccessful collecting seed myself (not sure what I did wrong). Last year I took cuttings for Shelser and gave them to her in Belvedere as she was very interesting in Moorheim Beauty. Of course, as things went, I never heard how they did for her. I will bring you a division from each of my two types of Helenium (Moorheim Beauty & Waldtraut) to the next meeting : )

Oh...thank god. I also sowed 'Pacific Giants' and mine look exactly like yours! I was beginning to worry if my seedlings were slow. I sure hope they flower this year. My existing 3 delphiniums (not Pacific Giants) are so robust I think I'll have to divide them next year.
