Pond

Pond

A generally under-productive day on my part.

I caught up on a few awkward potting on jobs - ones which required different mixes so I had put them on the long finger.

One of those jobs was to pot up the Skunk Cabbage I bought at the Rare Plant Fair. I had no aquatic basket so I bought one and then the kids broke it but finally I found an old cheese mould and potted it up today.

While I was at the pond I decided to put an edging around it. I have loads of slate in my garden so it wasn't hard to find. I think it looks much better now - less like a basin sunk in the ground and more like a pond : )

Thanks, folks. It is only a tiny pond, made from a sunken basin. But now it actually looks like a pond. The basin went down last year. The area around it was mostly planted up this year, due to winter losses. However, there are at least 3 Agapanthus popping up : )

The tall flowers are Primulas - my new love. I'm imagining I can grow damp-loving plants now, despite my stony dry soil. We'll see : )

Glad I didn't go to the Kilkenny Show then, Bill!
