Albizia julibrissim 'Summer Chocolate'

Albizia julibrissim 'Summer Chocolate'

I planted more annuals in my large Annuals Border today but I had to leave it unfinished as other duties called.

I put down 92 plants today, bringing the running total in the border to 365.

I planted a lot of the plants that came from Olga's seed today (thanks, Olga : ) ...

No. Plants Genus Species Variety
18   Zinnia elegans Scarlet Flame
26   Callistephus chinensis Siam
48   Callistephus chinensis red

Other than that, I moved the last of my seedlings out to the greenhouse and also moved the final set of staging out there. My kitchen is clear!!! I'm not sure I recognise the place any more to tell the truth!

Must be lonely in your kitchen now Rachel :-)  have'nt tempted faith yet and put anything out yet going to wait till next weekend I think..

Deborah Deborah 30 May 2010 23:22:07

I have a day off work tomorrow and am determined to get the rest of my annuals and summer stuff out. Ricinus, amaranthus, sunflowers, rudbeckias, cleomes, cosmos, sweet peas, dahlias, echiums (realistically I only ever expect these to be annual foliage plants here) lilies, nasturtiums, begonias, cobea, asarina, kales (red), etc, etc, etc.

Oh, am feeling very tired already.....

Rachel Rachel 31 May 2010 00:16:39

It is a big border. I adore the luxury of having one big area in flower all summer long and it is right by the greenhouse so I see it daily.

Clare, you are welcome any time. Linda dropped over last year when I was in the middle of planting the Annuals Border : )

It does seem really bare in the kitchen now, Bill. But I can now open the patio doors to the West Garden and, when not open, I can actually see the view I carefully built from those doors!

That's a shed load of plants, Deborah! I find the thought of getting everything in the ground really intimidating but I know I will feel really encouraged to continue once I have this bed done.

That's some amount of planting will be fabulous when it all takes off, you won't know yourself in the kitchen now with all that space.

LindaB LindaB 31 May 2010 13:03:40

Hi Rachel, sounds like it will be very nice when all flowering.

BRENMAR BRENMAR 31 May 2010 13:32:51

With all that planting just how do you get time to do anything else! It must be a very impressive border, I cannot wait to see your photographs when it matures.  I love long borders that are full of colour, well done.

Rachel, it's going to look fabulous.  All that hard work will be worth it.
