Cymbidiums, Pleione & Gardenia
A couple of days ago I move my Hippeastrums (Amaryllis) outdoors for the summer. They have a snug place behind the greenhouse where they won't blow over and will get watered regularly.
Today I got to wondering where I could park my Cymbidium orchids for the summer. They are a bit top heavy and surely they should not be anywhere where they get watered by rain because we might get a wet summer! And they probably need a bit of shade from direct sun. What a headache!
I puzzled for a while and then decided to put the 4 Cymbidiums in the greenhouse. I found a spot where they won't get direct morning sun and then I put fleece between them and where the afternoon sun will be. I hope this is a good place. I can control watering and the greenhouse will be open all the time so they should get night coolness. I put my Pleione orchid and a Gardenia with singeing tendencies with them.
