Breakage

Breakage

Disaster.

The chiminea, that I recently got my husband to put in the border, has fallen over.

It broke several alliums and part of a large hosta. I don't think it can have fallen as a result of the wind as it is a very heavy thing. It must have just been placed badly.

I guess worse things happen at sea. But probably not to a hosta!

Rachel, for some reason my alliums were very poor this year. Only a couple seemed to see the light of day. Youyrs look so healthy.

Beginners luck, Michael. I just put them down last autumn. The giant ones have not done well though - I only have 2 still standing. I'll be pleased if they open for me at all.

dont underestimate the power of the wind. i have had several very very large pots broken in storms. One of them had cost me 150 Euro and ended up in landfill.

Rachel although a mini disaster, the alliums and hostas will recover, the chiminea if broken would not have! Hope you can make it on Thursday, looking forward to the visit.

Say heritage bulbs doing a bloom special on bulbs including allium for €25 was tempted but in the end did'nt like the prospect of having more things to plant, maybe next year?

That hosta looks impressive and not a slug hole to be seen! How do you keep it safe from slugs?
