Hear the Garden Sigh!

Hear the Garden Sigh!

It rained heavily this morning and the garden looks so much the better for it.

I scurried outside to take a few photos and also to check on my Epimedium grandiflorum as there has been a lot of talk about them on the site yet I never noticed mine in the garden.

Sure enough, it seems that my Epimedium is no more. The only thing I found in the right area was ferny, like Astilbe.

I think it's the Michauxia tchihatcheffii that Liga gave me last year. Does Michauxia have astilbe-like foliage, I wonder?

D'ont know, but the epimedium flowers are like that before they open so maybe it's still there.

Beautiful photo, no rain here yet but very overcast garden definitely needs it. The cocoa mulch really sets plants off well it's so rich looking in colour

Have'nt seen the talk on epimedium but mine survived fine in the coldest part of the garden? I did have one that dissappeared for two years only to find out it was'nt dead but eaten for two years by rabbits!! Unfortunitly the rain has halted progress on mt strawberry sowing which if it doesnt break today will have to be planted in the rain! The cocoa bark looks great by the way, did you manage to stretch it out all across the whole garden?

I'm very envious of that unbelievably neat border!!!! I need to get weeding! Dont give up on plants, they may still come through.

Maybe they're just delayed then, Margaret. Thanks.

Thanks, Geraldine. It does set the plants of nicely. I find myself reluctant to take photos where there is no mulch.

I don't have rabbits (touch wood), Bill. Hope you're not forced out into the rain.

I only show the neat borders, Periwinkle. I only have about a quarter of the West Garden sorted so far.

Rachel, your cocoa mulch looks fab, great colour against the grass, so neat too!

The dishonest of taking a picture from the best angle shocks me Rachel :-) I'd never do that.. given up on strawberry planting till tomorrow

Rachel, gorgeous photo.

I'm sorry, Liga. You had a few losses last winter then!  It is very disheartening. Lets see if my Michauxia comes up.

Thanks for the cocoa compliments : )

Ah,it is ok Rachel,my own fault, lesson for next seasson,do not leave all plants in pots, when they not protected from over watering...
