Rose Double Delight & Chives

Rose Double Delight & Chives

What a beautiful day it was - in Wexford at least. Had to take off my cardigan when weeding. I do hope that good weather is back.

I think Rita's magic worked for me yesterday because everything seemed to go much better. Even spraying for aphids in the greenhouse didn't seem so bad. I got a good bit of weeding done and even went around with the old paintbrush, dipped in Gallup, to get the scutch grass, bindweed etc.

I just hope I didn't dab weed which I've moaned about before (still don't know its name). I painted it before but I must have missed a few strands so hopefully I got them today. If I loose a plant, it will be small price to pay for eradication of these persistent weeds - if I manage to eradicate it...

I now also have sufficient plastic membrane to put down over the newly dug area, where I am dividing the garden in two and creating an area for my mother. It is a relief to have the membrane and there are no weeds popping up as yet so hopefully I will get the membrane down tomorrow. Some more photos of this area in my "new borders" album.

Weeds seem to be really happy in the garden here to Rachel. If the plants could grow as fast then that would be 90% of the battle.

on the borbon's again. I have noticed if I Hoe weeds they ,in general come back but not the seeds I have sown, I'll have to get stronger seeds.

I wish my garden was large enough to devote a decent section to MY mother. You are very lucky, Rachel. My mam used to love coming into my garden. She would always give out to me for the amount on money I would spend on it. But secretly, she LOVED it. And she KNEW how much my garden means to me. Nearly a year now, Hard to believe!

Just back of holls and I would need your digger not a hoe to get rid of the weeds. I have never seen so many AHHHHHHH.

magic woks all the time (only sometimes) That is a beautiful rose. What is it. Dont recognise the purple flowers either. I am beginning to think I am very ignorant on garden plants as I have seen many many plants on this site that I do not recognise.

Jacinta, our mothers sound like they had much in common. Mine used to always complain about how much I'd spend in the garden too. She was always telling me what I was doing wrong too. We all need someone to keep us on our toes. Rita, the rose is Double Delight (hybrid tea) and the purple flowers are just chives. I'll put a label on now.
