My Doo, Voodoo

Sauromatum venosum

Sauromatum venosum

I bought one of the voodoo lilies at Terra Nova recently too. I might have bought mine ten minutes in front of Jacinta but hers has flowered first.

I thought that mine was not going to flower at all but, going out to the greenhouse this morning, ! got my second fright in two days.

Wow, I love him. But he is a stinky boy. In fairness we had to bring him into a confined space to get the 'scent' but then he was put straight back outdoors again!

Well, every member of the family has been out for a looksie and a sniff so far!

There are better photos in my greenhouse album.

And another stunning plant :) Regarding the scent.. I hope it is not as pleasing as the bulbophyllum phalaenopsis's one ;)

P.S.

On the greenhouse - is it your own construction or you just bought one from b&q ? I saw them and in spite of fact they are quite cost effective vs. effort to raise them - the steel used is rather of poor quality - read reconstruction of frame in 5 years...

Well done Rachel, glad it flowered ok, your welcome to the smell of this one.

Geraldine, they look like Oxalis, a great little plant.

Nice to look at from here!

As my grandson says 'AWESLIM!' Vaguely threatening even without the name!

Tomasz, I have heard that Bulbophyllum have a noxious odour but have not yet had the pleasure. The greenhouse was a cheap one from Lenehan's. The make is 'Eden'. I do hope you are wrong about the frame.

Geraldine, that is Trifolium repens 'Purpurascens Quadryphyllum'. Doesn't it look well wit the voodoo lily - quite by accident.

So kind, Fran and Myrtle!

I agree with your grandson, Scrubber.

Nah, Those from lenehans with alluminium base are much better than ones frm b&q with the steel of the poorest quality ever :) Dun worry Rachel ;)

When only we have 'spare cash' we install one. The major contraint hither is the fact that we are yet renting and saving for so called 'facility fee' and purhcase our own property on some decent site. I deem whether there are any restrictions on the maximum area for the non-irish citizens though, while for us and the plants -  the more the better :D

With my best wishes

   Tomasz
