Birr Purchase

Arisaema nepenthoides

Arisaema nepenthoides

I though I would put up a little photo of this purchase from the Rare Plant Fair in Birr.

It is Arisaema nepenthoides, which I bought from Terra Nova.

Isn't it so fabulous?

Although perfectly hardy, it lives in my kitchen at the minute so I can appreciate its intricacy. My kids talk to it before school every day. They know how to humour me!

Sorry, Bill, yours is not 'in spathe' but is as tall. Next year for you! I get to keep the 'flowering' one as I went to Birr. it's only fair.

Absolutely gorgeous. My Sprekelia lives here on the dining table, just in case the cat tramples on it in the greenhouse.

Photos are brill, Rachel.

Photos are wonderful Rachel.  Your garden is a delight!  You have lots of nice plants and ideas in your garden.  Like the view through the laburnum!

I am going to be very contreversial and brave and say I cannot get excited about these Arisaema at all - Have I just commited a terrible act of treason - Will I be excommunicated from the site - I am leaving your photographs to savour until tomorrow night when I can take my time going through them as I always enjoy them so much and find myself reaching for pen and paper to make notes about plant combinations - Have I redeemed myself now????????/

J.D. J.D. 11 May 2011 23:11:10

You shall be ex-communicated! Keego, you have just been 'blocked' from ever posting another journal here!

All joking aside, each to his own. Whatever lights your candle!

fran m fran m 11 May 2011 23:13:12

I was the same this time last year, now I have two. Not because they are been talked about on the site, but purly over time and seeing different pictures, I simply changed my mind about them.

A real case of each to their own, and if you don't like them so be it ;-))

HeadGardener HeadGardener 12 May 2011 09:54:47

It's ok Keego we'll have to take you to one side and have a word :-) Monty Don was admiring his Cow Parsley on GW last week and Deborah has a collection of Dandylions and I hate tulips so we all have our quirks :-)

Rachel Rachel 12 May 2011 09:56:14

It takes all sorts, Keego. I believe there are even people on this site who don't like tulips ;-)

fran m fran m 12 May 2011 11:49:08

Can understand most other plants, but Tulips.................. Me thinks a secret bout of bulb planting on a certain day in June is called for ;-))))

We all can't be watched ALL the time.................

HeadGardener HeadGardener 12 May 2011 14:23:59

Rachel Rachel 12 May 2011 17:57:29

fran m fran m 12 May 2011 21:14:57
