That was some amount of work, Rachel. It looks terrific. How in God's name did you manage to keep those tree ferns alive over the winter?

It looks like an exciting project all right what trees do you have in mind?  You are fortunate the tree ferns lasted and they don't seem to be sheltered by anything.  I love them but would never be brave enough to invest.  I had my eye on large Canary Island palms today in Tescos for 6 euro but stopped myself as I had lost one last year.  As I write this I think you stupid idiot Anne 6 euro! a meter high! I 've just talked myself into going back to Tescos tonight and getting one.  Talk later

The tree ferns are dead, folks, although wrapped with fleece and straw through winter. They would have looked good there if they had survived! Thinking of planting ferns in them.

And there was me thinking if Rachel can take the leap of faith and design a bed around tree ferns the least I can do is invest 6 euro in a canary palm!

Ha ha. The bed was designed around the tree ferns but, unfortunately, they couldn't wait.

I started planting yesterday and will continue with the tree later today. Then I need to consider digging...
