Dactylorhiza maculata 'Kilmarnock'

Dactylorhiza maculata 'Kilmarnock'

Again, it was a productive day at Douentza.

Hubby lifted all the sods off the garden and dumped them, even raking the recently clipped banks and carting off the cut grass.

I've put up a few more photos, including one of the ex-Tropical Bed that I finished planting yesterday.

I also put up a pic of the 'just weeded' Annual Border.

I can't wait to get all my annuals down and see the greenhouse clear of plants!

Well done Rachel (and hubby!) you have been very busy of late and have achieved a lot.

I couldn't agree with you more - can't wait to get the plants out of the tunnel.

Unfortunately I will be in Dublin at Bloom during the warm spell so I hope it's not too cool after I get back on Sat. They are going out regardless..

Good luck with yours.

Dactylorhiza looking so gorgeous, Rachel. When will you be planting your annuals? Now seems like as good a time as any. Forecast good for the next week.

Rachel Rachel 31 May 2011 23:08:44

I know the feeling, Moya. It's such a weight off to have them in the ground!

Jacinta, I hope to buy stakes tomorrow. If I do then I'll plant on Thursday. I need a complete, windless day to lay everything out and plant them. This year we could have all planted everything mid April - it's been so mild!

This week Rachel we can all look forward to removing a lot of the plants from the greenhouse as the temperature is rising again. you seem to have done a lot of work to day with help from himself.

I was looking for the photo of your annual bed but then got distracted by your photos  of Bay Garden, I was there about a week ago with a group of friends but got a wild and wet day sooo disappointing! This is the second time I have tried to see it-will have to try again!

Like your orchid, saw them at Bay too I think.

Roll on summer.

Anne, sure you can change your mind for next year easily enough that way.

Myrtle, that is really bad luck.
