Ganesh & the buxus

Ganesh & the buxus

I've had a mad and wonderful idea, inspired by a new book on topiary that I recently bought.

I have a 3ft box bush in a pot, which I bought at a closing down sale a while ago.

I would really like to clip it into the shape of Ganesh, the Indian elephant god.

I might be just mad enough to try it!

Brave woman, Rachel. That would take an awful lot of intricate pruning, Why dont you start your topiary with a very simple shape. You will always be able to pick up buxus at knock-down prices.

Rachel, you need to go from factor 10 to factor 50 and wear a hat the sun must be going to your head :-D Anyway Ganesh's topiary is so last year, balls are big this year all the rage in Chelsea!!!

Ah, balls, smalls. I have 6 large balls. I want something whimsical so why not my favourite deity! By the way, has anyone visited 'Victoria's Way' in Roundwood, Co Wicklow (http://www.victoriasway.eu/)? It is a really interesting contemplative garden full of large Indian sculpture. I haven't been there since I lived in Wicklow (8 years ago) but there is something surreal about the preposterous Indian sculpture and the Wicklow hills.

Rachel i checked out Victoriasway...seems fasinating..Then I checked out meaning of Ganesh...he is Lord of 'good beginnings' and associated with the 1st. chakra 'energy' wheel' which represents the instinct of conservation, survival, procreation and material well being...so now you have it!! I think you should definately go for it!!!!

Rachel meant to add in there..with all your energy and all your 'new project' (new beginnings) this Lord is very suited to having a place in your garden...

Go on Rachel give it a go , I would imgaine it will take a while but oh what an achievement.

I wish I had your dedication and inspiration. Think I might go visit that garden just checked out the website. You may keep us updated on the topiary, I imagine it will be a slow process.
