greenhouse seedlings

greenhouse seedlings

I got to do some gardening today but it was nothing likeable.

A while back my seedlings in the greenhouse were attacked by slugs so I sprinkled a few slug pellets on them and it solved the problem. Those slugs seemed particularly partial to Euphorbia!

Then, about a week ago, I noticed that the slug pellets were attracting fungal growth. I ignored it and the fungus continued to grow. I began to fear that it would rot my immature seedlings.

So, today, out came the tweezers and I spent about half an hour tweezering off blue pellets and white fuzz. Yummy!

I don't think the mould from slug pellets is harmful. But it sure does look unsightly. I think I would have done the same.

Worth doing when you see those lovely seedlings coming on, it would encourage anyone

well done Rachel, you could  put some little trays of beer by your seedlings and the slugs will die happy. failing that put some copper wire around your seedlings it works

Or some of Fran's coffee grounds!

I'm encouraged to see this is not just a problem I have had. Isn't it funny how the pellets never go mouldy in summer?

I might try Milliemouse's beer solution if I can wrestle some off hubby this Friday ;-)

I've had some go mouldy in the summer too!
