Precious Cutting

Precious Cutting

This is my most precious cutting.

It's growing new leaves so fingers crossed that it has taken.

Can anyone guess what it is?

Something exotic

Rachel Rachel 09 December 2011 18:04:13

Yes, Tina, but that's the only hint you're getting :)

Jacinta Jacinta 09 December 2011 18:11:51

Hmmmm that's a nice downey leaf. Peculiar looking stem. Will watch and learn.

Myrtle Myrtle 09 December 2011 18:14:35

I wont know if it is exotic but hope it roots for you.

TinaJ TinaJ 09 December 2011 18:21:43

Havnt a notion, best of luck with it

BrunoCork BrunoCork 09 December 2011 18:23:51

I'll keep my mouth shut :)

Your Amicia cuttings appear to have taken too, unlike mine :(

fran m fran m 09 December 2011 18:56:42

It surprisingly is a member of the pea family, Amicia or also known I think as Sun Flower

Rachel Rachel 09 December 2011 19:10:03

Jesus Bruno, you're good! You recognised the Amicia zygomeris from that photo! Well, if it grows for me, you know where to get cuttings next year ;-) And we know that YOU know what the main cutting is!

Fran, Bruno is talking about the plant behind. The identity of my precious is still open for guessing ;-)

fran m fran m 09 December 2011 19:16:31

OK worth a try LOL, but I was really testing Bruno, should have known better :-)))))

Suffering from verbal diarrhea once again.................

Elizabeth7 Elizabeth7 09 December 2011 19:19:05

Freemontodendron californicum?

Rachel Rachel 09 December 2011 19:20:21

Ooh, a good guess, Elizabeth. The leaves are similarly soft and fluffy. But, no!

BrunoCork BrunoCork 09 December 2011 19:42:44

Tell you what...if your "precious cutting" doesn't root, I'll swap you a rooted one for an Amicia cutting ;-) Mine has sent up a couple of suckers and I could easily be tempted to swap one for an Amicia. BTW, mine has recently sent up flower spikes and the whole thing is looking very Ligularia-like.

Fran, be warey of this one....I grow it so it must mean it's invasive LOL

fran m fran m 09 December 2011 19:48:42

Bruno, I was at a Gardening Clinic the other night, the were installing Micro Chips to help folk stop buying plants, they said they would build one for me in connection with Invasive Plants, I do hope the warning shock this chip gives is not too strong.............. LOL

Rachel Rachel 09 December 2011 19:52:34

It sounds like a good deal, Bruno. I do only have one Amicia cutting at the moment though so you'll have to wait a bit :)

Hosta Hosta 09 December 2011 20:14:57

My lips are sealed  :-)  Mine is nice and cosy in the glasshouse --- I saw one flowered in Wales and have to say I did not fancy it.  The leaves though were very impressive and were huge

fran m fran m 09 December 2011 20:20:14

OK time up. I was giving all the others time to prove thenselves, it's a Califorinia Geranium better know as Senecio Petasites.

One that's on my wish list, I do hope that the Hint was subtle, a great plant ;-))

Rachel Rachel 09 December 2011 22:09:31

Fran has it! I am surprised that one so tender is on your Wish List! I have loved this one from afar for awhile so fingers crossed that it won't be from so far away soon if it strikes.

fran m fran m 09 December 2011 22:22:53

Rachel, for a minute I thought you meant I was tender  !!!!!

Hosta, while your lips were sealed, I'm glad your fingers were free,

Shush ......... not a word to anyone ;-))

Hosta Hosta 09 December 2011 23:15:38

Not a word Fran, not a word  :-))

Rachel Rachel 10 December 2011 00:04:47

I wonder is there twickewy afoot!

fran m fran m 10 December 2011 09:00:34

'' I know nothing '' LOL

Hosta Hosta 10 December 2011 12:40:45

You may well think that Rachel, but I couldn't possibly comment  :-))

Rachel Rachel 10 December 2011 13:00:23

Margaret, you really shouldn't encourage one so tender and impressionable as Fran!

fran m fran m 10 December 2011 13:49:00

These corkoians can lead anyone astray!!

HeadGardener HeadGardener 13 December 2011 09:56:14

God I'm sorry I missed this discussion, firstly well spotted Bruno, Rachel you never told me you got a hold of Amicia Zygomeris !! you kept that quiet... will have to be extra nice to you next year if I want to try a cutting LOL

Rachel Rachel 13 December 2011 09:57:25
