Let it grow, let it grow, let it grow

Let it grow, let it grow, let it grow

Let it grow, let it grow, let it grow

I'm not sure if it was too warm or too bright but my cannas in the wardrobe insisted on continuing to grow.

I cut off their snouts a couple of times but they didn't take my not-so-subtle hint!

So yesterday I gave up and took them all out of the wardrobe and put them in the bath where they can grow as they want.

It's nice and bright in that bathroom so they will be fine if I haven't done any damage so far.

I had been hoping to be able to actually use the bath this winter but I guess it is not to be!

You must be giving them right conditions as they persist in growing. There are other plants we'd love to grow that won't. Its the way gardening goes.

i checked my canas on wednesday when i was clearing the shed, some of mine look like the second pot near the bottom of picture. that big middle pot looks like it is really thriving

They look fairly damp perhaps they need to be a little dryer to discourage growth.

Thankfully the shower is free, or am I mistaken?

:-))

Wow, look at the size of them already?

Rachel Rachel 12 December 2011 22:06:15

Myrtle, I gave them a good watering when I moved them to the bath to encourage growth.

Ha ha, Fran. We do have a free shower, thankfully!

All winter in bathroom???Won't be to hard for you,if they really start grow?

Do you have an attic where you could stash them Rachel? That's where I'm thinking of putting mine. I'd only worry about them up there if it get's seriously arctic for a prolonged period.

Liga, my bath has been full of plants the last two winters. We manage. I was hoping this winter would be different.

Maybe I'll try the attic next year, Conrad. The problem is 'out of sight, out of mind'.

Glad you cleared that up about the shower .....:-)

My 2 are like yours - growing away.  I thought by putting them in the downstairs loo, which is cold enough and reasonably dark that they would stop growing.  Not the end of the world though.
