I love the smell of acetaniprid in the morning...

Dendrobium nobile

Dendrobium nobile

It smells like victory!

Actually, acetaniprid (the active ingredient in my anti-aphid spray) smells more like almonds. That can't be a good idea! Of course I don't know if it's the active ingredient that smells of almonds or whatever perfume they put in to counter the appalling smell of the active ingredient!

I fear I am rambling.

But, as you may have guessed, I sprayed a few indoor plants today for aphids. Catch them early for victory in the battle against these insidious enemies. FWO FIO

Dendrobium looks gorgeous with the bright light. You really can't beat white flowers ANY time of year.

I don't know, Paddy, it is a lovely smell!

what little beauties. i heard that cyanide smells of almonds too, heard that on law and order on tv

That's a beauty, Rachel.  I saw some Phals in Dunnes Stores today for €18.99, a bit of a rip off I think just because they had a gold coloured pot for the Christmas market.

Lovely looking flower Rachel, Paddy is that coffee for drinking or spraying? LOL

Fantastic flower, I find that coffee mixed with a 'wee drop' is the best of the lot ;-))

Bill, we do put the coffee grinds outside on the nearest bed.

That's a good suggestion, Fran. Must put the kettle on.

Rachel you are far too young to be a flower child.'If your'e going to SanFrancisco..' So get off that high as fast as you can or else.....

Rachel Rachel 16 December 2011 22:42:58

Cyanide does smell of almonds, Michelle.

Margaret, they do ask silly money for orchids this time of year. I saw this Dendrobium nobile in full flower for sale in M&S yesterday for €30!

I fear it is too late for me, Andy!

Scrubber, the reference was to 'Apocalypse Now' not flower power. Does no one remember that quote from the film?

"I love the smell of Nepalm in the morning" as said by Robert Duvall in Apocalypse Now which was set in Vietnam War which was a major catalyst for flower power protest of the sixties .. everyone wins LOL unless your a aphid that is ...

Scrubber Scrubber 21 December 2011 17:11:31

Yes sorry! I remember it now. that and the magnificent Valkryies music as the helicopters swept in. Great art and horrific carnage twisted together.
