It was great to meet so many of the great people on garden.ie but I was sorry to learn afterwards that there were people at the gathering that I never got a chance to meet.

The day was great but it would have been better if we had had a reason to return indoors after the plant swap in the car park. I think many people left after the plant swap and a lot more socialising needed to be done really (in my opinion).

I tried to keep my best plants for firm garden.ie 'friends' but I then thought I was being a bit mean so changed that tack. The result was that by the time I met up with Jools O & Rita D (for example) I really didn't have anything worthwhile left so sorry about that, ladies.

I did come away with some great plants so thank you to everyone who swapped with me. And more importantly, it was great to meet you all and lets do it again some time...

Jools O has started a discussion about another plant swap on the TALK page, under plant & seed swap - check it out and maybe contributute...

Looks like you all had a great day, and the weather stayed good. It must have been very nice to meet all the friends from garden.ie. Next year can you meet in my garden and bring all them lovely plants with you.

Hi Rachel, sorry we didn't get to introduce ourselves in Mullingar, good points you made about Belvedere, plant swap was a bit frightening from a novice point of view! and it did split the whole thing up, Shelser made a good point about it in her journal, but we did manage to hook up with a few friends, enjoyed the day and look forward to the next one! as blind dates go it wasn't a bad one!! looked at Jools O ideas about plant swap would be good if it could happen, did you do any more thinking about the hens!! sorry not to have met up hopefully next time..............

The jury is still out regarding the hens, Chilipepper. Where are you on this now? My brother in law has advised that you really need to make your hen house fox/mink proof. Not sure the model I had in mind is fox proof...

New photos are lovely Rachel, are they more carniverous plants you bought at Johnstown? Love the one of the sunflowers, how do you keep your lawn 'weedfree'?

So sorry to have missed the day in Belvedere, had to go to a wedding, hopefully I will make the next gathering. It looks like a great day was had by all

Have done no more Rachel, had no plans to do anything till next year anyway! hope i can fit it in, we are going to do a total reshuffle with the bottom half of the garden, new greenhouse, fruit cage, couple of new raised veg beds and raise the existing ones and if we have room an 8x6 run with 2 chickens!!

Rachel Rachel 22 July 2009 01:50:25

Still indecisive, Chilipepper (me, not you). I guess you are in no rush but thanks for letting me know your time frame We plan on getting a bee hive for definite but the jury's still out on the chickens. My Sam would so love to chase the poor devils around the place - I think they'd be wishing to be battery hens by the end of a few weeks!

Your blessed Rachel with the space you have, would give an arm and a leg for that space! we would be able to fit everything in! we even went as far as looking at property down the country this year were strongly thinking of a move, love where we live just need MORE SPACE!!!! your blessed with the land you have...................

Well, it's a good time to buy, Chilipepper. Not so good for selling though!
