Good Year for Hydrnageas

On the positive, it has been a very good year for Hydrangeas.

I copied the idea of yellow Hypericum hidcote, coupled with blue Hydrangea, from my neighbours. I love it but hubby is not convinced! I think he believes the only good Hydrangea is a dead one!

Hydrangea 'Madame Emile Moulliere' was bought last autumn when I saw it in Philip (a neighbour)'s garden and Hydrangea 'Vanille Fraise' came from Myrtle. No sign of the strawberry yet but it's a grand plant and isn't droopy at all, despite Myrtle's warnings.

I did some weeding today and staking.

The grass has been cut but quite high, because it got a head start on us, so it still looks crap but so it goes.

I reckon its a good year for Hydrangeas in my garden too - they have managed to produce some really healthy looking leaves .... a vast improvement on the past few years ... maybe next year I might get flowers ;-)

Love, love, love Hydrangeas - any kind, anywhere. Not everyone shares my love I know...

They look great Rachel. Really love the second and third as they are a bit more unusual. Lidl had H. macrophylla varieties on sale recently and I really had to discipline myself to confine myself to buying one.

I notice your Hydrangeas are blue while mine are pink. That is of course due to the type of soil.

I have 2 Hydrangeas in pots and would like to plant them into the ground, when would be the best time to do this and do I need to plant them into special soil. They are doing very well in the pots, one is white and one was blue last year and  now is a purple colour

Hello 300820112, you can plant your Hydrangeas in the ground at any time. They will appreciate some manure, if you have it, or good compost. They prefer some shade but can do without it.
