Gratuitous Plug

I would just like to take this space to recommend a local landscaping company, Acer Designs, Bunclody.

Acer Designs have carried out four jobs for me over the last year and a half, from putting up pergolas to the recent hedge removal. I cannot recommend them enough.

Acer Designs is very reasonably priced. The young man I have dealt with is also extremely knowledgeable and personable, having studied horticulture in Glasnevin himself. I also believe them to be of the highest integrity, having stuck by me through the horrendous task of erecting my greenhouse last year.

Finally I would like to mention the excellent customer service record of this company. If Acer Designs say they will be there on Friday, they will be there. And if they can't make it, for whatever reason, you will get a phone call. I don't know what it's like in other parts of the country, but here in Wexford it seems that the Celtic Tiger only served to make companies ruder and more disregarding of customer service because you can be promised a job to be done for many months before anything happens and you will never even get the courtesy of notification that there will be a delay. So Acer designs is like a breath of fresh air.

Anyway, I recommend them. Plug over : )

I do believe credit should be given when due. Obviously they care deeply about customer relations, they will succeed.

I think you are surely right, Jacinta.

Its lovely to deal with people that are professional and such a bonus when they are polite and friendly with it. The Celtic Tiger has a lot to answer for. Well done Acer

You know it would be good to get recommendations about different things like that. I want to get an arch for my garden and have looked at the one in Mr Middleton brochure but when you actually cant "feel" it........ I dont want to spend too much money on it but at the same time dont want to have to replace it. So if anyone has any advice I would appreciate it.

So often people only complain a bout bad service, if they deserve credit for good work and service then credit is due and well earned by the sound of it.

Unfortunately I think it's the retailers who pay for advertising that will get space on this site. It's got to make money somehow!

Oouch!!!  in my part of Wexford I have had nothing but honesy, good response and good value for money.  I have had several works done by a local carpenter - who was none too au fait with gardening structure, but more than willing to help build designs I only imagined would come to fruition.

I am happy that you got what you wanted from Acer - sounds like a great company, but I would say it should not be at the detriment of other such companies. I would like to see promotion of good, honest companies, and maybe there is a forum space for that... feel very defensive of Wexford tonight... am I wrong?

Rachel, I think theres no harm in plugging local companies especially when there relevant to gardening as well, nice new photo (very professional looking) is the policy now to change it weekly?

Liz.M Liz.M 07 March 2010 20:27:05

I like the new photo too - it doesn't look quite colour but also not black and white - really nice!

Nice to see a firm being rewarded on this site for service.  I like the work they did for you - some change!

Isn't it great how a good photogrpher can even compensate for a bad hair day! Bill, I can change my photo here as often as I like, so I do. I can't change that *** awful one of me in the Irish Garden so I'll have my fun on here ;-)
