Most Disappointing Seed

Eustoma 'Double Eagle Mixed'

Eustoma 'Double Eagle Mixed'

Myrtle recently made a post on her most disappointing seed so I thought I would mention mine.

Apart from Isoplexis isabelliana, sown on 20th February and hasn't germinated to date, my biggest disappointment is Eustoma.

I sowed Eustoma 'Double Eagle Mixed' on 12th January. They were my second seeds sown this year so I had high hopes for them.

After a good while I got one seedling. After ages I took them off the heat but got nothing else. I kept the lid on and checked the tray every now and again but nothing was happening except that one tiny seedling seemed to stay the same size.

Yesterday (after 77 days from sowing) I finally decided to transplant the one seedling and re-use the tray. And what do I see - 2 more seedlings!!! So that makes 3 seedlings out of 24! Not a very good or very quick result. They had better be absolutely gorgeous!

Ha ha. I betcha they WILL be gorgeous. If I was to mention MY most disappointing seeds, the list would be as long as my arm.  :)

Very disappointing! but you will be minding those 3 like babies! By the way how did the hen house survive the wind?

That is not bad Rachel, I have lots of seed not germinating, mostly hand picked seed from peoples gardens and also my gazanias.  Some trays I have started to reuse because I have no patience!  All my veg are doing well thankfully though.

Maybe put seed tray in fridge???For couple weeks...Sorry for Isoplexis isabelliana,,it look beautiful.

Hen house is fine, Myrtle. It would not blow away easily. Even the trampoline is okay.

Jacinta & Linda, I think the squirrel grass seed I gave you wasn't good so sorry for adding to your disappointment.

Thanks, Liga, I might try that. Hubby is away next week so that would be the moment to put plants in the fridge : )

That is a shame, Jurgita, about the lavender. But little chicks at Easter time- you kids must be delighted!

J.D. J.D. 31 March 2010 19:13:54

Oh Jurga, Easter chicks. How exciting. Rachel, have you got all hens, or is there a cock with them? You could be next :)

Rachel Rachel 31 March 2010 19:17:55
