As it is nearing St Patricks day, I would like to wish you all a most enjoyable day tomorrow. R. shamrock has been very punctual this year and has flowered on time, I find this an attractive hybrid as it flowers well.

A few days ago I promised to show the Daphne like flowers of the dwarf species, R. cephalanthum crebreflorum and being a man of my word they are featured in photo no 2. Aren't they splendid.

Those of us who are lucky enough to grow Camellias have been featuring them over the last month or so. I have 23 in the garden, mostly Japonicas and Williamsiis and one Sasanqua. My Sasanqua was in full bloom late last year and of the remaining 22 Camellias, 18 have flowered and the other four should be of flowering age in the next couple of years. Most of them flowered really well and photo no 3 shows some of them in the northwest garden. C. rubescens major is on the left and C.debbie is on the right and I have no name for the larger flowered centre one. They are a good example of what is to be seen in the garden at the minute.

The same to you Sean. These plants are strange to me. When I saw R. shamrock I thought for a moment that it was our national emblem. Of course I should have been thinking of Trifolium.

Thanks Dick. I'll have to go searching for our proper Shamrock later on.

Lovely selection of Camellias and a fantastic colour on Rhododendron 'Shamrock', Sean.
