If it's no longer in use could you take advantage of the concrete slab and tile it with something and make a seating area?

take off the concrete cover. Plug the outlet pipe. use the inflow pipe as an overflow.

now you have a deep ready made pond

I just covered my old septic tank cover with sods and let the grass grow although it never looks quite like the rest of the lawn it was the easy lazy solution for us, ours was located in the middle of the lawn but hope to do something else there sometime, as you all know these garden projects are always ongoing

Pool might not be the best idea with small children but what a great idea. Wish I could come up with bright ideas like that!!! We had one in our family home.  It was just grassed over - It was always a different green than the rest of the lawn.
