Bank Holiday Monday in the garden

Bank Holiday Monday in the garden

Am pleased to tell you that almost everything in the garden is coming along well.  I was in Wexford for most of the weekend but managed to spend all day Monday working in the garden. First there was the big clean up of that dreaded area down behind the trampoline where the compost bin is. Everything that is dug up or cut back is dumped down there!!! Had to remove my big Fuchsia and my Solanum - casualities of the Big Freeze.(and the Solanum was covering the oil tank). However on a brighter note - My lilies are flying up - fruit trees are covered in buds and it looks like my Kiwi is getting flowers. Tiny at the moment but coming - I am very excited about that!!!

The veg garden is coming along - Peas - broccoli and cauliflowers all doing well. Have beans (just in) and beetroot  (dont ask LOL). Have Chilipeppers  Feresno - Yellow Pepper BlondyF1- Cucumber Femspot and Seweetcorn Seneca Star and tomatoes both standard and tumbling all growing inside. Will hang onto them inside for another couple of weeks - I think.

I will try to get some photos up - but have to go to yoga soon!!!

Just looked at your photos. Great promise of plenty of colour in your garden.

Lucky you with a flowering kiwi. Must take a look at mine. I was wondering what tips you could offer on growing Lilium nepalense. How long does it take to sprout? I have mine indoors - is that right?

Hi Rachel - I grow mine outside. They are much slower than any of my other lilies to get going. No sign of mine up yet! All my other ones are well up!!! Maybe they are so slow to get going because they should be inside????????? I never even thought to grow them inside.

Photos are lovely, great not to have lost too much due to the big freeze.

I found that my fuschias which I thought had been murdered by the frost have started to sprout at the base - Have you really dumped yours?

Also I love the phot of your Dicentra - I thought mine had died last year but it has reappeared this year - although it isn't in flower yet. Here in Laois we tend to be several weeks behind the rest of the country.
