Scrub Denizens were watching Mr scrubber very carefully today as he has had a gammy hip for a while. X ray showed its just a gammy hip and does not need replacing for which Scrubber was so grateful. Held up well today so that is the last you will hear of it.

It was a wet morning but the day turned and I was able to plant up a little area with a new pieris-I had six of them- and I put them in for Joshua as I remember the day he came with rachel to visit my garden, a lovely quiet earnest eleven year old. I will always remember him when I see them.

After that I went to my long border and started at the back, edging and clearing and putting the extra forget me nots down in the Scrub. I used a saw-real one-to divide a big clump of that grassy flower-libertia? and reset  them .

Then took the snowdrops out of the urns and set them in the side border and of course that necessitated cleaning it up sufficiently to do so.I noticed a thirty year old Buddleia was almost dead so that will have to come out but it has given huge service.

So grateful to be out again. Spring was defiitely in the air if not quite in my step. And the Magnolia seem to be coming very early this year. Now that I think of it I bought a magnolia....oh no I remember-It was a present for a dear friend-for a minute there I wondered where I had put it!!!!Senior phases rather than moments!!!

Glad to hear that the hip is still in working order. Always sad to see the end of the snowdrops, but when you are dividing you know that they will be more next year.

Great work, Peter. Great weather here too. It will be getting warmer by next week. Sad about Joshua.

Scrubber Scrubber 11 March 2017 21:23:12

Yes Mary and every year seems to come round a bit quicker these days.! Thanks Dick. Looking forward to that warmer weather! Yes unbearably so.

Hip Hip Hooray! So glad it doesn't need replacing. We had a very drizzly day here in Dublin. But the sun did manage to shine for 5 minutes.

Glad you had a good day Peter.

PCON PCON 11 March 2017 22:28:48

Hi Peter. Still working away. That gammy hip needs replacing when you feel you can't put up with it any more. Not when the X-Ray says so. Glad it has not reached that stage, and hope it never does, but it is nice to know it can be done if it ever becomes necessary. Don't test it too much with those rocks. Best of luck.

Peter that is great news that the hip is holding up but do be careful. The photos are lovely anf the mass of Snowdroos are terrific. Maybe some day my clumps will be as big! it was a lovely day here, can't believe it was drizzly with you Jacinta, but as my son is home I didn't get time to get out to the garden, so hoping today I will  for a while ;)

That was a nice gesture with the Pieris I'm sure he will be looking down on them...as PCON says dont wait for the X-Rays to tell you, I made the mistake of waiting and I'm paying for it now but thankfully I can still get around be it on a Stick...

I love the Steps leading down to "I wonder whats around that Corner"I always loved the Mystery of exploring Moss covered Rocks / Trees and feeling / smelling the dampness and finding new Plants...maybe the Sun will shine on you as well...Cheers...

Many thanks Geranimojess. Ill follow PCON's advice and at present I'm doing well. That last bit re moss etc. was sheer poetry! Jackie the snowdrops do bulk up quickly esp. if divided. I try to do as many as I can before the leaves disappear.PCON thank you so much for the good advice. I have lately revised my rockability programme! Ask for help my new mantra!Thank you Fran. Hope all is on course ! Jacinta never thought of Hip hip like that before!Nice one!

A Colleague I worked with many Moons ago never got on with the Boss and was constantly up in front of him...on one occasion the Boss had to go into Hospital for a double Hip replacement , following the Operation, the next Morning at Tea break they were talking about the Boss when this Colleague stood up and said,"Lets have 2 Cheers for Mr Cullen...Hip Hip Hurray...Hip Hip Hurray"...now he can't say I wasn't thinking about him...

He was still at the Company 3 yrs later when I was Transferred...

Scrubber Scrubber 12 March 2017 21:16:35

Perhaps he was driven to it! Some bosses need a hip others need a heart! Really enjoyed that!

A lovely gesture with the pieres Peter and sounds like you had a great days work in the garden.

Scrubber Scrubber 13 March 2017 22:25:15

Thanks Peter. It will remind me of a time when a lovely quiet earnest eleven year old visited.
