About my garden: My garden is a typical town garden, mainly in lawn for low maintenance. I have had to have a large apple tree taken out recently, which was unsuitable and which had a permanent apple scab problem. I also need to remove a climbing frame (enthusiastically set in at least two feet of concrete. It seemed a good idea 20 years ago!) I hope to include a green house as part of the new lay-out. To compensate for poor soil (and very shallow soil in parts) I plan to use raised beds in some areas. Although I'm about to introduce more vegetables, I haven't lost my passion for shrubs and flowers, which reward us with such seasonal colour through the year.
More about me: I live in Athboy. Having retired recently, I've decided to reorganise my garden to accommodate much more vegetable growing. I dabbled a little in veg growing, both in my current garden and in my first garden in Navan, 30 years ago. I hope I'm not being too ambitious at this stage of my career. I'd like to undertake a refresher gardening course in vegetable growing or, possibly, to link in with some like-minded gardening enthusiasts locally, in order to learn from their experience.
