About my garden: My garden is south-facing. When I say garden, really I should say 'field'. It's one acre is size, mainly all grass and it slopes down at the end of the border where there are some crab apple trees. We are surrounded by white hawthorne hedges on the south and east sides; the west side has an exposed barbed wire fence and the top of our proprerty is a country lane with a smaller hedge. There's very little flowers growing at the moment in the garden - something I'm slowing working on - except for lots of daffodils, snowdrops and bluebells in the Spring. There's one fushia plant, a beautiful pink hydrangea, a few geraniums and that's it. So, I really have a blank canvas to work with. It's inspirational but daunting! Our land is mainly comprised of lawn. We're beginning to reduce the amount of lawn we have as cutting just 1/3 of it takes hours.
More about me: I am a very keen, very amateur gardener. My partner and I moved to Laois from Dublin in 2010. We have an acre of land which is just a field with the house in the corner. Every once in a while, a neighbour brings his horses down to graze on our land. I'm really enjoying all aspects of gardening from weeding to planting to basic landscaping. I'm especially a big fan of making my own compost. Recently, I've started to try making liquid feeds for my vegetables. Nettle tea really stinks but works!
