About my garden: Myself and my husband and 3 children, have been living in Kinvara for 6 years now, in rented accommodation. In 2004 I started up a community garden here in a walled in garden attached to an An Oige Youth Hostel. It can be hard to find an outlet for gardening passions when you are renting!! We lost our deposit on one house because we had planted up the garden, even though I know the next tenant loved the flowers and raspberries!! There are 4 main people involved in the community garden with plenty of helpers on our workdays!! Anna Jeffrey and myself, teach gardening classes trying to get as many people as possible to grow some of their own food. Anna also took all the lovely photos on this profile. She's a very experienced gardener and has an organic farm in kinvara. More about me: I got interested in gardening in my teens. After school I studied for a year at Otley College in Suffolk. There I did an NCH in Commercial Organic Horticulture. Then I got a job on a farm in West cork, I worked there for 2 years, growing field scale veg as well as tunnels, pigs, goats, and sheep. We also made cheese. All organically of course! I moved to Italy for two years, and worked there on an organic vineyard and olive farm, and had an allotment. We then came back to Galway, my home county.
