About my garden: My garden is large and is made up of heavy clay soil, and some rocks. In parts of the garden i have some small border flower beds and decrotive hedges plus a newly added centre bed with some of my favourite shrubs like phormium, hypericum, photinia etc, and some flowers. I also have some young trees, and a rose bed.All grows organically in the vegetable garden, started from scratch about 4 years ago and is made up mostly of raised beds, big tubs and a polytunnell.I grow a range of veg from potatoes, cabbage, carrots, onions, etc along with a fixed bed of rhubarb.Started the new fruit bed area in the last few weeks.
More about me: I am single, aged 46 years old and lived here all my life.Organic vegetable gardening has always been my favourite pastime, but only in the last 3 to 4 years am i getting into ways with some known pests to disorders, also by companion planting of particular herbs, and annualls like marigolds all used in some way as pest deterrents in the vegetable area.Almost impossible to win again pests all the time, so just keep trying.I gained my diploma on gardening from Kilroys College and am at present doing another home course on horticulture with the R.H.S Institute of gardening. The emphasis for me is on organic vegetable gardening with some other topics.I love to read the monthly addition of the Irish Garden Magazine for tips on vegetable growing, from other journals, and my friends in the garden.ie club.
