About my garden: I have created a "monster" over the years and now garden over two acres. But I have tried to limit the work to grass cutting as the garden is mainly created "woodland " with many cornus, acer and over 120 varieties of ilex. As they all grow there is less grass to cut. There is also some sculpture for interest and the seven sacred trees of druidic Ireland are all represented. I have attempted to create a grass free lawn with chamomile and thyme. The thyme in particular did not work. So now I must plan what to do with a circular area, hemmed in with potentilla and about twenty feet across. Am thinking of polygonum as I have an area of it gone wild. I could dig up and transfer enough of it to populate the entire circle. It would just spread with neglect. I also created a secret garden this year which is a great favourite with growing grandchildren. They love the sensation of "their special space" and that is what was intended.
