About my garden: The garden is just under an acre. After the builder finished the house two years ago I got a landscaper to clear the site, sow the grass and plant some woodland areas and beds at the front of the house. The site conditions are so poor even the grass is struggling. I'm on a hill but the water just lodges - it doesn't appear to want to do the natural thing and drain away down to the ditch at the end of the garden. I did ask the landscaper to put in drainage because I was aware the ground was very heavy clay but he advised it wasn't necessary - foolishly I accepted his better judgement and am paying the price! Every hole I dig becomes a sump! I also live in a wind tunnel and am working on creating wind breaks at the moment. On the up side the views are stunning!
More about me: My name's Bea and I'm a plantaholic! The utility area outside my back door resembles a garden centre. I buy "must have" plants and then try to find a suitable place in the garden for them. More often than not it doesn't exist - not with the conditions I'm dealing with anyway! I'm hoping I'll get inspiration and encouragement by being a member of the Garden.ie Club. Here's to never finding a cure!!!
