About my garden: I am working on taming a large 1/3 acre weed garden we got with our house 3 years ago. Our speciality till now has been excellent scutch grass and dockweed but I am out to make some changes. So far I have 5 raised beds each 4x4, a polytunnel 10x10 (feet) and a fairly large patch about 10 x30 which I am trying to reclaim from the grass and weeds. I also have 4 large rose beds, two large bush/flower beds, fruit trees (pear, apple, plum, crab apple and a cherry) and a range of soft fruit bushes...oh and a new baby just in case it might be too easy! If I can get all this growing and keep it safe from stray footballs I'll be happy.
More about me: I would live in the garden but no idea what I am doing. This year I plan to learn & practice. My gardening focus is to gradually develop some level of self sufficiency in relation to fruit and veg. I enjoy preserving food and hope my polytunnel will help me produce sufficient quantity to really feel like we are living a little off our land. I aim to be a 'green' gardener so seed saving & propogating, using local plants, as well as eco friendly gardening is important to me.
