About my garden: My favourite plants are ones that can look after themselves. High on the list are flowering trees and shrubs. We also have a large collection of hellebores which once established thrive on their own and seed themselves happily. I love trees and have probably too many of them and sacrifices will have to be made in the future.
More about me: I share a wildish garden with the hares and the slugs. Basically i sometimes feel that I'm running a sort of delicatessen for wildlife. It was worse before we got the deer fencing. We had not seen a hare in the garden for years but the minute we got the fence up the deer moved out and the hares moved in in their place. I reckon that a plant survives the first twelve months it develops an immunity to the local fauna. I am an enthusiastic member of the Irish tree society and have learned a lot from the outings and events that they organise. It is also a wonderful way to meet other gardeners.
