Butternut's Profile

About my garden: Our garden is an acre and a quarter, lying above the lovely Enagh Lough which I use as borrowed landscape. The soil is mostly gravel and you need a pickaxe to plant anything. I don't have any annuals except in containers. There is a bit of woodland, pond, flower beds, and weeds. I photograph the nice bits and stare at the rest. Luckily I like dandilions, daisies and cow parsley. Creeping buttercup is sneaky so I pull that out. Nettles squeak pitifully when you pull them, so I leave them alone and they respect my wishes to stay out of the flower beds.
More about me: I am a member of the City of Derry and District Horticultural Society, a lovely group of people with greenish fingers. Because our garden is quite large I try to keep it as low maintenance as possible. Rhododendrons grow well, and I count them when I can't sleep. The result is always different, somewhere between forty two and forty six.
