About my garden: It was a fairly overgrown plot and took a lot of work to have 2 beds ready for that first season. We have continued to add more beds each year and our range of vegetables has also grown.
We grow most of our veg from seed now and nurse on our own seedlings! Our allotment site is very communal and forward looking.Zwena our allotment owner is very hands on and adds to the amenities each year, we have a tea room with fridge & electric kettle and tables and chairs.Toilet facilities are available with a car park and there are stand pipes between each 4 plots.
The first year we were there we had about 6 plot holders on 20 plots.
We have an open day in June & a BBQ to meet our fellow plotters and Zwena always organizes a Christmas drinks evening so we can stay in contact during the winter months.
We now have 40 plots all fully occupied and a waiting list to boot!
We were encouraged to enter the inaugural RDS Allotment Awards last year and I was very fortunate and surprised to win the 'Expe
More about me: My main interest is allotment gardening, which I began in 2007 with one of my daughters and grandchildren. We started late that year but had a good harvest for what we did.
We have progressed each year since then, taking over a second plot last year (2010)
I started www.organicgrowingpains.blogspot.com to get help or advice from like minded people being unaware that this site was here!
