I have an Andromeda Polifolia Compacta which had lovely white/pink flowers in May/June. These are in the pots which I bought them in. Over the past month or two the plants have gone very twiggy and long and have turned a brownish colour. Is this dead do you think? If not should I sow them in the garden.

Andromeda, or bog rosemary, is a small acid-loving shrub. It should be planted out in acidic peaty soil, drained but moisture retentive.

It would tend to be vulnerable to drying out if kept in a pot, which is probably what has happened.
