I live in the west of ireland and my daughter’s getting married in september this year. I want the garden looking it’s best can you tell me what types of flower bulbs i should plant now to get lots of blooms? The soil is fairly dry and rocky

For quick results, the following will give late summer colour: dahlias, cosmos, lavatera, nasturtium and nicotiana. All of these are quite tall.

You could also use smaller summer bedding plants which wil be still in flower, such as busy lizzies, bedding begonias, petunias, geraniums and verbena.

Choose a selection from these mentioned and do not mix too many colours.
