best trees for screening?

david thorp asked 13 years ago
I need to block out neighbours unsightly big shed in my 100ft back garden. I want to plant fast growing leafy hardy trees (cheap too)…..what would be the best tree / trees to plant. I was thinking silver birch and hazel trees.

In a garden of that size, silver brich and hazel would be fine. Both are good native trees, good looking, fast-growing and good for wildlife.

You might add in a few green hollies to give a bit of winter cover when the leaves are off, but the tracery of  birch and hazel branches gives a fine screen anyway.
