Birds Nesting

Christine Healy asked 14 years ago

I have a branch of a hawthorn tree covered in ivy which needs to be cut back as it is leaning over my house. I have kept an eye on it and can’t see any activity of birds nesting in it but this does not rule out that they are not. When would it be safe to cut back the branch?

If you are happy that you have observed no activity, cut the branch away whenever you wish.
