Any ideas on getting rid of cattle hoof marks (between 3 to 5 inches) on lawn, (lawn used for kids to play football) so it is just getting it reasonable level without anyone twisting ankles

While the ground is still wet, take a shovel and hit the pock-mark hard with the back of the shovel to flatten it. Then fill the remaining hole with soil.
The best way to do this is to fill a wheelbarrow ith soil, flatten each pock-mark and fill it a little high and flatten it again.
You can shake some lawn seeds is you like but the gras will grown back from the sides.
