Creaper for back of house

June Thunder asked 14 years ago
I want to grow something up the back of my house to cover unsightly drains etc. I was thinking of Virginia Creaper or varigated Ivy but have been told that they pull the plaster off walls. The house is only four years old. I dont know if this applies to modern houses. Have you any suggestions. Also I would have to grow it in pots as paved area below.

Creepers do not pull plaster off walls unless the plaster is ready to fall off by itself. These will not succeed from pots as their roots are much bigger than a pot can accommodate.

Planting holes about 25 by 40 cm can be cut into paving and the plants will root out under the paving and trhive.
